RICHARD'S BIOGRAPHY

Born in Bournemouth in 1972, Richard moved with his family to Bracknell in 1973. Being brought up in a musical family both in the UK and Holland (mother dutch), Richard soon got used to hearing music being played around him and playing the recorder was the first instrument he learned to play. Richard also took up classical guitar lessons at an early age which gave him the opportunity to read and play from sheet music. This gradually developed to composing and playing his own music, but wanted to follow a more modern style.

When taking music lessons at secondary school, Richard was given the opportunity to learn many instruments from bass guitar to drums, but the one instrument that really grabbed his attention was the electronic keyboard/sythesiser. This instrument could produce every sound under the sun, including the ability to customise sounds to your own liking. This then developed to Richard gaining an O'level in music and also the opportunity of performing in front of a live audience at school.

In 1992, Richard started a band comprising of 2 band members and called the band 'Rough Image'. Band members comprised of Richard and primarily a guitarist/vocalist , Andy Jackson. The band would practice in each others homes and would often gain an audience outside after only a few minutes of playing. Every now and then Richard and Andy would head off to the recording studio and get the latest tune down on tape (as it was back then!) in hope that maybe this was going to be the one to hit the charts!

15 years on and things have only changed a little. Both Richard and Andy are best of friends and still talk music, but Andy is now a successful photographer. Richard is still producing songs and is currently working on a new album in his home studio in Berkshire. This interest in music is also having to be balanced with a full time job as a Research Scientist of which he has been doing for the last 17 years or more.

Richard runs a number of successful Social network websites for the world to listen to his work, which includes 'Myspace', ' Marshalls Music Appreciation Society' (Facebook) and of course his official website (www.marshalls-music.com). In 2006, Richard  was hand picked for the launch of an online unsigned band venture called  'Popworld Promotes' which is supported by Channel 4 Saturday morning TV programme 'Popworld'. This landed Richard a feather in his cap of being one of the first 20 bands to ever join Popworld Promotes and held a strong position 40 (on average) out of around 3000 bands.

Over the years, Richard has received overwhelming positive feedback from listeners/supporters through the sites, but Richard hopes that this opportunity will promote his name further and really show listeners what he is capable of producing and really get noticed for his efforts. As well as feedback and chart positioning, statistics show that Richard's fan base is increasing daily which is very encouraging indeed.

Everything is fitting into place and Richard appeared in 2006 in local newspapers ' The Bracknell News' and due to the success of the article, then appeared in the 'Reading Chronicle' only weeks later (Both articles can be read in the News section on this site). Richard can also be heard on Ukundiscovered Radio (Dance Fusion Show 5-8pm).

Currently, Richard is working hard in the studio on a brand new album/EP that will be released later in the year. To bridge the gap between now and the album release, Richard has released a CD single entitled ' You & Me' under his own Indie label, Marshalls Music Productions. The CD contains 2 of his most recent tracks ' You & Me' and ' Never'. The CD is now available for purchase via Marshalls Music official website and can also be download via Itunes ( worldwide ), Napster and Amazon MP3 to name but a few!

A brand new range of Merchandise or "Marshandise" as Richard likes to call it, has just been launched, alongside the new CD Single launch (see website for details).
